Dawgwood offers local equines a soothing country retreat on our 10 securely fenced acres.
We believe in keeping horses as naturally as possible. Please note that, while 'easy keepers' thrive in our environment, this kind of structure is not ideal for every horse. I do have a list of local facilities that can better accomodate higher-maintenance horses.

Our pasture land varies from open grazing to mature bush and has a gentle roll to it. There is a two-sided lean-to within the bush for additional shelter from biting winter winds. We may have to feed hay year-round, but our horses spend their time interacting with nature and each other, rather than standing idle in a bald field. We find this stimulation to be a valuable asset to our horses' mental and physcial health.
The size of the herd is maintained at a maximum of only 6 horses to ensure optimum quality care. A screening and quarantine process ensures that only the most pleasant and positive horses come into our family structure. All members of our herd are friendly and playful. You'll find no bullies here!
The horses are fed a top-quality, alfalfa/timothy/orchard-mix hay year-round, in the form of spread-out small, square bales. We believe this eliminates breathing complications that can occur when eating out of contained, large bales just as it also promotes added healthy mobility in our horses.
A 12% complete feed (in lieu of grain) is fed on an individual basis, catering to each horse's personal requirements.
Free-choice mineral and fresh water are available at all times.

For our riders, we have a 22x24 heated tack lounge with a futon, fridge and growing library. Our tack racks are ceiling-to-floor and open to provide optimum air flow and reduce the occurrence of mold. There is also a vet/farrier station located inside.
The outdoor riding arena is 110x120. It can be lit up at night and is cleared during the winter months, leaving a 6-10 inch base for good footing. We are in the process of collecting jumps, barrels and other obstacles to create a fun environment to play in!
The local trails vary from exhilarating climbs in sand pits, wades through refreshing pools of water, exploring cooling bush trails to flying through open spaces! It's impossible to be bored out here!
There are many horsy neighbors who love to hook up for rides and get together afterward for bbq's and chit-chat.
We're even located just two little miles from one of the best tack shops around! Join me in coaxing Lindsay into installing a couple of hitching posts, won't you..?
