Again, the Dawg puts technology to work!
There's no hot cage-drying here! Every dog is individually hand-dried, start to finish!
This "high velocity" sounds scarier than it really is. What we actually have here is yet another fabulous stimulus that actually minimizes the stress of rigorous brushing to your dog's coat.
The HV dryer provides a strong blast of room-temperature air through a hand-held nozzle. It blows all the packed and dead hair out from your dog's coat and reduces the amount of brushing your dog must endure, which can be painful and cause scrapes, not to mention damage to the hair follicles themselves, in inconsiderate hands. The warm air also massages your dog's skin and muscles like thousands of tiny fingers!
With this tool, we can also see through the thickest coat, right down to the skin. This enables us to detect potential skin problems as well as lumps & bumps, often in time to take action and prevent serious issues!
What the heck are Matts?!
Matts are knots and tangles that form in your dog's coat from lack of brushing.
As time without brushing goes by, and as the knots get wet, they multiply and tighten close to the skin.
The general rule of thumb is the more matted your dog is, the shorter the clip has to go and the more money a groomer will charge.
A conscientious groomer will not put your dog through the painful process of brushing out these matts.
Severe cases result in sores and blood loss to the skin. A visit to the vet can even become necessary.
Regular brushing will keep these matts out of your dogs' coat, providing you with valuable bonding time with your dog and a healthier, happier dog.
When you do brush your dog, never brush him/her dry! Always mist them lightly with a diluted leave-in conditioner.
Be sure to brush in all different directions, especially against the growth of hair. Brushing only with the growth of hair will not get down to the skin & find those matts!
Also, do not attempt to brush out matts with a comb - that hurts! Instead, use the comb to find the matts and gently work at them with a soft brush.
Some matts may not come out with just brushing and you have to decide if your pup's coat is too far gone and in need of professional grooming.
Bushing should be a relaxing & pleasureable time for your dog, not torture!
If your dog already has matts, do not give him a bath!! Matts are like gremlins!! They multiply when wet! Moisture can also get trapped against the skin and cause serious irritation!
***I urge you to use extreme caution if you decide to cut out the matts yourself. Horrific accidents have occured as a result of an unsteady hand! If at all possible, please take your pup to a groomer, even just to have the matts cut out. Most groomers will be happy to do so for a small fee.
Remember, please never brush your dog's coat dry! Friction and static electricity caused by this damages the coat, actually breaking the hairs and enables the coat to matt much more easily! Instead, either purchase a leave-in conditioner from your local groomer or dilute some yourself. Lightly mist the coat as you brush. It doesn't take much to get that coat gliding through your brush!
