It had snowed just the lightest dusting the night before and covered everything with a twinkling, white blanket.

We rode our horses, bareback, down our wooded path to the waiting Justice of the Peace and witnesses. The dog, Dino, lead the way, bouncing around behind us and zooming back up to the front again. It's almost as though he knew there was something to celebrate. Once we reached the 'alter', we turned our horses loose and proceeded with our vows.

The sun winked and smiled through the trees. The breeze oh-so-carefully carried occasional bunches of snowflakes down upon us from the waiting branches above. The whole world seemed to hold its breath for just these few precious moments. The birds even paused in their serenades. The only flurry of activity was Dino as he ripped around, amusing himself with forest smells and mounds of soft, fresh snow. The words exchanged were perfect, our barely-restrained glee dancing in the air around us.

The walk back to the tack room broke the spell cast on all of us with the gentlest touch. We signed all the necessary documents and shared a toast!

The smells, sounds and moods of the day will stay with me always. It truly was a perfect wedding!
